Well this is an impossible distinction I'm afraid. IF you accept that the economic priorities of the opposite class might be held down, then their spokespersons would only effectively be allowed the right to exhaling 'hot air', or if they gained some political representation then the majority would in any case be forced to deny any basic economic change of interest. Then the state would be accused, correctly, of being a dictatorship! We have clearly to dictate that 20.9 million ultra high net wealth individuals shouldn't run the world of 6.5bn.

Yes Paul B., a bourgeoisie society might hold down the economic priorities of the opposing class, but strictly speaking we can’t talk of a dictatorship in this case, because what defines a dictatorship is formal entry barriers to leave out other political competitors. It is true that non-formal entry barriers like funding to do campaigns might leave competitors out during some time, but these barriers can be beaten as, for example, Chávez did in 1998.
Our role as leftist must be to fight for tearing down formal and non-formal entry barriers while we keep intact the rule of law, instead of supporting leftist dictatorships.

What then is the difference between the dicatorship of the proletariat
and
the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie, if not precisely the holding down of the economic priorities of the opposing class.
The type of 'democracy' that corresponds to the each is the central question....in an epoch of imperialism this issue is sharper than ever.

Yes Jerry, they are free to organize themselves and compete in free elections, as well as to express their opinions without fear to retaliations. They are not in jail or kicked out of the country, when not condemned to a marginal and obscure life without the possibility of influencing public affairs. I just forgot that Cuba is the paradise of civil and political rights.
Over and out! Over and out! Calling Jerry from earth.

Alejandro
